About Us
“Excellence and Promotion of Achievement: The Key to Success.”
HISTORY
National History of NWOA
As the chapter continues to grow, its impact on the community strengthens. However, challenges arise as members leave and new ones join. Despite this, Southern Crescent remains a steadfast pillar of strength and unity within the community.
In 2019, the following candidates were inducted: Shakira Bryant, Karen Givens, Brenda Moore, Yaasmen Shahid (not pictured), and Addie Taylor. Their contributions to Southern Crescent were brief but impactful. During this period, the chapter focused on building community relationships, strengthening ties with schools, and engaging in collaborative efforts.
In June 2020, Southern Crescent welcomed three additional Achievers: Tammy Harris-Roach, Sharon Daniels Mosley, and Eboni Noland.
By this time, the chapter had begun to evolve. With several members disengaging, the roster now consisted of only five Achievers, along with the three newly inducted Achievers. Despite these changes, the work continued.
Achiever Sharon Daniels Mosley proposed an initiative to support caregivers of elderly parents, recognizing that caregivers are often overlooked. Achiever Gwen Smith and one of the chapter’s dedicated volunteers, JaCinta Thornton, were the first recipients of this effort. It was a joyful Merry 2020 Christmas despite the challenges brought on by COVID-19.
The National Women of Achievement organization continues to encourage youth through its scholarship program and recognize outstanding community leaders through the annual “Profiles of Prominence” awards.

HISTORY OF SOUTHERN CRESCENT
In an effort to expand the National Women of Achievement (NWOA) organization and its service reach, Achiever April Jackson-Banks and Achiever Gwendolyn Smith—both members of the Midtown-Atlanta Chapter—sought to establish a new chapter to better serve the southside of Atlanta.
On January 12, 2018, the Southern Crescent Chapter was officially chartered to serve South Fulton, Clayton County, Henry County, and other areas south of Atlanta.
The chapter was initially composed of seven Achievers from the Midtown-Atlanta Chapter and three new Achievers.
The first President of the Southern Crescent Chapter was Patricia Gusta. Following her departure, Tamara Christion-Mims volunteered to step into the role, becoming the chapter’s second President.
National Women Of Achievement encourages youth through our scholarship program and recognize outstanding community leaders through our annual “Profiles of Prominence.”
The Organization’s Motto is “Excellence and Promotion of Achievement: The Key to Success.”
